All fabrics have a wall stability whether that’s a stretchy lycra top (low wall) or a silk blouse (medium wall) or denim skinny jeans (high wall). Compression exerts pressure from the skin to the tissues and muscles within providing a supportive wall around the affected area and a high wall stability is essential for achieving a successful outcome when treating lymphoedema. For lymphedema it is recommended to use flat knit compression because it provides the higher wall stability, and the firmer fabric prevents the lymph fluid from increasing in the affected area (body tissues) helping it (the lymph fluid) to drain back into the lymphatic system. #lymphedema #lymphoedema #lipedema #lymphaticdrainage #lymphaticsystem #compressiongarment #compression”.
