Brebeuf Hockey faced off against HSE B for the second time in as many weeks but this time, the outcome was much different than the first. The Braves played hard from the first puck drop and with 10 minutes remaining in the first period, the effort paid off with a hard-fought goal in front of the net from senior Cole Dubois. A minute before period’s end, freshman Sam Nefouse out hustled the HSE defense while shorthanded, and flipped a shot from behind the net that hit the goalie’s back and trickled in to make it 2-0 Brebeuf. A quiet second period from both teams gave way to the third where Brebeuf scored once more when junior Landon Boccone deposited a pass from Kenji Murakami to make it 3-0. With 3:43 left in the game, junior Max Nefouse wristed a rocket that banked in off the post to put the Braves up big. Boccone then scored his second goal of the game with grit that outworked the defense. With the game on ice, 5-0, the Braves focused on securing the shutout for goalie Jack Rielage, who saved 36 shots and killed 6 HSE powerplays. With the shutout, Rielage tallies his fourth of the year and his third straight in league play. The Braves play one more game before the holidays when they take on the Owensboro Rampage from Kentucky, Saturday at 9:45 p.m. at the Carmel Ice Skadium.
