There's nothing more timeless and classic than a selvage denim apron, right? For 100+ years denim aprons have been a staple in department and hardware stores and an economy-priced item offered by overall manufacturers nationwide. But, since White Oak Cotton Mill closed in late 2017 and they stopped producing that denim on those old Draper looms in early 2018, American-made selvage denim has begun to not only dwindle, but it's gotten even more expensive. We have had a couple rolls kept stored away for the right time, and we decided to use a roll of that historic cloth to make these aprons, which makes an accessible item for those who want a piece of American history, but just can't justify buying a pair of expensive jeans or a jacket. Selvage details on the pocket mouths, sturdy cotton twill tape for straps, and sewn with PermaCore A&E thread, these 100% cloth aprons are washable (although with raw denim they must be kept separate to avoid the transfer of indigo onto other items, known as crocking). Fixed head loop and ties around the waist for an easy, wide-ranging fit. As it fades and distresses, it will become beloved, and perhaps you'll share memories in your workshop, kitchen, or yard with someone who it will be passed along to one day!
