This quirky ceramic wall hanging would be a great Christmas gift to give to that special friend who loves a bit of feminist art!
The ceramic wall hanging was made using a hand building technique known as 'pinching'. I use white clay with 1% grog which I feel enhances depth to my work.
After I have finished making the wall hanging I then paint it with copper oxide,after it has dried I take a damp sponge and remove the majority of the oxide,leaving elements of oxide to enhance the texture. I then paint over the oxide with colored engobes. My work is then fired to 1120 degrees. I do not use glaze on my work as I feel the piece has more depth without glaze.
As you can see in the photograph there is a hole in the rear were it can be hung on a nail.
