A portrait of the French pioneer of extreme skiing, Patrick Vallencant (1946-1989), in Chamonix, France taken in 1987. Vallencant was killed in a non skiing related climbing accident in the South of France in 1989. In addition to numerous first descents throughout the world, Vallencant popularized his exploits in a series of films and created his own line of ski clothing, Degre 7.
