When Tom Ford first created the GG g-string and sent it down the runway as part of Gucci's very sexy Spring 1997 collection, it caused quite a media stir, but, as Kyle Munzenrieder writes in W magazine, Instantly, the g-string went from a bit of a taboo (if not trashy) underwear-drawer secret to high-fashion respectability. It garnered a lot of attention when Kim Kardashian posted a selfie wearing this design on her Instagram account. A version of this design also resides in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
