Burpee's 1896 catalogue identifies the potato leafed Bandywine tomato plant as an 'old time American' favourite, so perhaps its' origins date back even much further. We acquired the 'Sudduth/Quisenberry' strain in 2018 from a market grower in Port Williams, Nova Scotia. This is an extremely flavourful tomato with a deep-pink skin and smooth, red flesh. This is a tall growing potato-leaf plant that required staking or caging. A real pleasure to grow and harvest these sweet beefsteaks. Definitely worth the wait for the final ripening stage!

Planting Instructions: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Sow 1/4 inch deep and keep soil warm. Transplant into 1 inch cells or 2 inch pots at 1-2 leaf stage. Staking tomatoes (indeterminate) should be transplanted into 3-4 inch pots. Harden off plants for 4-5 days after risk of frost has passed. Transplant outdoors once day and night temperatures are consistently above 10 degrees Celsius.
