With only 50% of the domestic demand met, Bangladesh resorts to importing over 1 lakh tonnes of milk powder annually. This reliance on imports is due to challenges faced by smallholder farmers, including a lack of adequate facilities, difficulties in ensuring quality, fair pricing, and accessing markets.
